THE Redcar and Cleveland Care Academy is offering free training for anyone aged 18 or over and wanting to work in adult social care.
Students who complete the six-week course will gain an accredited qualification and are guaranteed a job interview with a local care company. The majority of Care Academy graduates have gained employment soon after completing the course.
Georgina Terry, Carer for Meadowvale Homecare and a recent Care Academy graduate said:
“I really enjoyed the six week course and would recommend it to anyone passionate about working in care.
“I got a job pretty much straight away with Meadowvale Homecare and find it really rewarding.
“You visit people in their home and they will ask you for a few things and thank you afterwards which is one of the best things about the job when people appreciate the help you are providing.
“The next time you visit they will be pleased to see you.
“It’s all about building that relationship with the client.”
A Care Academy information session is being held at Redcar & Cleveland College, Redcar from 10am to 11am on Monday, April 1.
Following the information session a free six-week course starts at the College on Monday, April 8.
